The Harrison Fire Department division of EMS has policies and procedures in place due to privacy regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Harrison Fire Department's Paramedics and EMT's operate under the Southwest Ohio Pre-Hospital Paramedic Protocol, which gives the standard guidelines to follow while treating patients. A minimum of two (2) paramedics respond on each detail.

They are available for extra support and man power if needed, but do not always transport with the patient to the hospital. The EMS division currently operates four Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances that are equipped with cardiac monitors and a multitude of life saving equipment. Assisting the ambulance crew during all emergency details is an ALS chase unit.

There are currently thirty-eight paramedics in addition to EMT's, who are also cross-trained as firefighters. We offer programs to suit all ages and individual needs. T he Harrison Fire Department continues to strive on professional development and looks for ways to maintain its current paramedic staffing. The Harrison Township Fire Department provides fire safety programs in our schools and to any groups, located in the township, that request a presentation. The primary goal of the Harrison Fire Department EMS division is to reduce morbidity and mortality to the public by providing the most advanced medical treatment and transportation of patients to definitive care in a timely and responsible manner.
